In Memoriam

I just heard last night from a friend's group message that a classmate of mine in Filipino 13 and a Medical Technology student, Kisca Procianos, just passed away. I remember replying back to my friend of mine with shock and sorrow, "WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?"

Athough we didn't talk that much, I know for a fact that Kisca was one awesome person. My most memorable time we had together was the "Tabo" project that we had last August. She shared a lot of suggestions, and she helped in selling our bam-i (which actually didn't sell well until we super-lowered down the price to P5) and the "Dancing Juice" (I don't know what I was thinking when I thought of selling something like Dancing Juice).

Another thing that I won't forget about her is the time during the talumpati where she apparently turned the classroom aisle into a catwalk and tried to copy Shamcey Supsup's way of walking in the Miss Universe pageant.

Damn, I still can't get over her sudden death. And it so happened that I knew about it after watching the news item about the burial of UP student Given Grace Cebanico, who my Dad says was former schoolmate of mine at Christian School International at Los Banos, Laguna back in the 1990s. I'm starting to think that this is another "Harvest" period that people have been saying before (and if you don't know what a "Harvest" period is, it's a so-called time where many people you know and prominent people die all of a sudden).

My first podcast, which is set to be posted here on my site on Saturday, October 22, is dedicated to the memory of Kisca. We'll be talking about death, especially of someone your age, and how to deal with it. She'll surely be one of the inspirations of Doghouse Radio and will forever be missed.

You're in a better place now, Kisca. See you sometime soon :)

Upcoming Broadcast

Hey guys!

My name is Raffy Cabristante, aka Raffy Ruff, a student from Silliman University, Dumaguete City, Philippines, currently taking up Bachelor of Mass Communication.

I currently work as a radio jockey at DYSR-FM Killer Bee 95.1, a local Top 40 station. I also am a columnist in the Weekly Sillimanian, Silliman University's official newspaper, regularly writing in my column "Talking to a Wall."

I know for a fact that big things start from small beginnings. And because I'm pretty much inspired talking on radio a lot and getting outspoken in a lot of stuff, particularly in pressing issues of the day. So once a week, I'm going to post here on my blog my weekly 2-hour podcast, "Raffy Ruff's Doghouse Radio," whose episodes will be posted every Friday or Saturday. It's gonna be a combination of music and talk, talk, talk, and of course, advertising. If you want to advertise with us, btw, let me know by e-mailing me at raffybee951@yahoo.com. You can also contact me at +639065277942. We advertise at very affordable and reasonable rates. That's a promise.

I'm not pretty sure about the segments my podcast would have, but these are the stuff that I have in mind:

1) Poems - whatever poems you want me to read with feelings on the air (in English, Tagalog or Cebuano). There are rates of airing poems, although they're pretty affordable, so don't worry. It won't even eat up half of your daily allowance. ;)
2) Doctor, I'm LOVEsick - love problems discussed and given solutions. period.
3) News As I See It - The latest news around the country and in the entertainment world, along with what I have to say.
4) Monthly Rewind - We're talking about music this time. I'll do this every last Saturday of the month, playing all of your fave tracks from the 70's, 80's, 90's, and the early 2000's. It's a time machine show.

Check out my Facebook page: "Raffy Ruff's Doghouse Radio" and feel free to comment or interact with me, or check out this blog (and share it to your friends): http://doghouseradio.blogspot.com/

I'll see ya around guys! I'm gonna post again sometime for my first test podcast.
